Read 2 times. Last read August 2010.

When I first picked up Rich Meyrick’s Jaspa’s Journey I was immediately excited to introduce this new fantastical book to my students. Full of adventure and fantasy, the book is just the hook to enrapture a young reader’s heart. But, as I continued to read about Ben, Jaspa, and the Giraffeses’s diverse group of friends I was brought back to my own childhood fantasy to see something that no one else could like Mayrick’s young character, Ben. Not since reading books like Harry Potter and The Golden Compass had I found a book that invigorates the hope that there is something magical out there, and that those childhood whimsies were not entirely fictitious. Meyrick instills the hope in his readers, young and old alike, that we all could be a Seer.
