4.25 "all in " stars

I come to this book having already read Palm South University Seasons 1-3, so I have a fair amount of background on all the characters and I honestly think it helps since this book is only from Skyler and Kip's POV and not the whole gang (like in PSU.)

What a twisted web we weave! Everyone has a motive and everyone is playing a game/role...except their hearts. If you've read PSU then you know Kip has been mentioned by Erin before and I have thought many times "who is this Kip person and why does she keep talking about him?" Kip transfers to Palm South U and Skyler and Kip have an instant connection before either of them really knows who the other is. Once Erin gets wind of all this she tries her hand at puppet master and it's disastrous and hurtful :( BUT, Kip is no innocent in all this and he has his own ulterior motives for spending time with Skyler, which are also hurtful. Skyler is so torn as this poker tournament is what she's been building towards and now her relationship with Erin is in tatters, and there are so many lies...was everyone bluffing? What's been real and what's been hidden behind a poker face?

We get to see a side of Skyler that we haven't really seen because she is soooo into this guy. He frees her, let's her be herself. I had mixed feeling about Kip, but I ultimately can understand why he did what he did but I still don't agree with it. He needed to take his advice to Skyler and apply it to himself so many times. I enjoyed this read, but I think I enjoyed it more because I know the PSU crew...I may have been confused about some of the character interactions and their importance (Skyler/Cassie/Adam) without my PSU background.
