A classic English country house murder mystery, featuring the first appearance of Albert Campion. An enjoyable read for fans of the genre, although I must confess that I found the motive for the crime completely incomprehensible...the book was written in 1929, and it involved a girl, so perhaps that explains the obliqueness of the explanation. (Although I've read a great deal of literature from this period of time, and I've never found it anywhere near this confusing.) If anyone would like to explain the motive to me, feel free...

I will be delving further into the series, and am eager to see how the series develops as Campion takes on a more central role.
