did not like it
bookshelves: textile-art, no-longer-own, history

This is not a useful book. John Peacock has taken fashions -- who knows where from, as there is no documentation -- and drawn them himself on a long row of inhumanly tall and thin modern fashion model illustrations.

There's no documentation, no sense of any body type apart from the modern fashion illustration, and no useful information as to how the garments were constructed, how they would look on a real human being, or even how they looked in their own time.

Even as a general survey of the changes in fashion over the 20th century this book is not very useful, since its view is so distorted and pushed into a single modern aesthetic.
