really liked it

My answer to those "what career would you choose if you had to live your life over again?" questions is always to get into medicine, so I find a book like this to be utterly fascinating. This isn't an easy read - the queasiness that kept my younger self from getting anywhere near the medical field would have been doing overtime if I'd read this book back then - and the chapter where Melinek describes working the New York City medical examiner's office after September 11 is particularly difficult to endure, but the book is always fascinating.
