it was amazing

I haven’t read any of this series before, but I have already downloaded the others in the series. I just adored this sweet, charming book!

Lucy is not your typical teenage girl. She’s passionate and free-spirited, yet incredibly responsible, helping out her mother and little brother while her father is away overseas in the military. She spends her time helping out her best friend and her family with their free-range chicken farm and doing needlework in her mother’s sewing shop. To me, she was a fresh of breath air who totally captivated me. It wasn’t long before she captivated straight-laced, put together, Dylan. The two meet when she is late dropping her younger brother, Otis, off to a baseball camp the high school baseball team is doing for the summer. She instantly knocks him off-kilter. He has sworn off girls after being hurt and has put all his focus on baseball and trying to get into the minors. He soon finds the only thing he can think about is Lucy. Lucy can see the hurt underneath his too put together façade.

“She didn’t know who’d hurt him, but it was there, gasping for air. He needed to have his heart knit back together, whether he believed it or not. And she knew someone who was damn good with a needle.”

The two of them are complete opposites, but somehow they work! She brings some chaos and fun into his life, and he brings order to hers. Ther'e is some angst and drama and some things that might become obstacles to keep them apart.

“For all their ‘opposites attract’ baggage, they were still alike in ways that counted. Enough so that things striving to keep them apart weren’t being all that successful.”

The romance is sweet with just enough sexual innuendos to make your heart skip a bit and feel butterflies in your stomach. The secondary characters, like their best friends and families, really add to the story. It’s refreshing to see teenagers who love their parents and whose parents love and support them. The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the perfect summer read for teens and adults.
