really liked it
Read in January, 2006

Though the title is cool (I want the T-shirt!), it's a bit misleading. It could be titled, "A Rejection of the Smother Mother," or "How Not to be an Uber-Mom" or "Why It's Important to Raise Independent, Resourceful, Creative, Non-materialistic Kids Without Stressing Yourself Out--and Some Tips for How to Do It." I loved Muffy's take on parenting and felt quite affirmed in our own parenting choices. And the book inspired us to clean out Evan's toys so as not to live in the accumulation of stuff. Overall, I found the book to be a great check on what our values really are (spiritual, not material) and how we are raising our boys to reflect that. Go Slacker Moms! And it's also another book I want to own and reread from time to time.

Deborah Torp DITTO! I can't say enough about how affirmed I felt after I read this book. I knew what my philosophy on parenting was - Muffy just put a name to it, Slacker. Great! It was great to find out there were others out there like me! :)
