I am not even sure how to rate this book. It was a book I could not put down! But how do you rate something that is so graphic, detailed, makes your heart hurt to know that stuff like this really does happen in the world? This is a true story and its so detailed that it makes you feel like you are right there during the murders and in the court room during all the trials. I ended up giving this book 4 stars because it was a fascinating book and the author did a great job with research and getting people to help him with the story that was personally affected, including the parents of the teenage girls. I feel morbid for rating the book so high but it was a good read for me and I enjoy reading details about things that really happen in life. Does this make sense??? :)

Bettye McKee You're rating the book, not the crime. "Helter-Skelter" was a horrendous story, but the telling of it earned high marks for the author. I hope you'll never feel guilt for recognizing and rating good writing.
