really liked it
Read from July 23 to 26, 2017 , read count: 1

The invocation of Baldwin in the title is more aspirational than realized, as it has some of the unevenness of voice and accomplishment that accompanies any collection of essays. But there are a number of very fine and unsettling and even heartbreaking essays in this book. A good introduction to what might be thought of as the literary generation of Ferguson and Black Lives Matter.
