it was amazing

I finally got to read a book that has been on my TBR for the longest time! Barbara Kingsolver’s The Poisonwood Bible has been recommended to me countless times, and it did not disappoint.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We follow the Price family on their mission trip into the Congo, and through the perspectives of the daughters we experience the move and it’s aftermath on the family. We also get commentary on the turbulent political climate and tensions in the region more broadly, particularly the impact that the Independence struggle has on the family being in the Congo. The biblical imagery and Kingsolver’s stunning prose made this an exceptionally meaningful read, and at times I just couldn’t I put it down! I was particularly impressed at how deftly Kingsolver wrote each of the perspectives, and how unique each voice stayed during the narrative.

Also many thanks to the fabulous booktubers I read this one with, always wonderful to hear the perspectives of other readers! Thanks to @booksfoodandadventure @browngirlreading @alifelessboring @brittaboehler @mrsvaldes1 & Jessica.
