it was amazing
bookshelves: sci-fi, fiction, classics

Somewhat Lovecraftian in its treatment of the nature of alien life as well as its lengthy descriptions of weird scientific writings and otherworldly landscapes. The drama at the heart of the story is truly tragic and the human psychological response are all quite convincing. There’s a lot of mystery that isn’t resolved at the end which might put some readers off but I very much enjoyed. Answering all the lingering questions at the end would not have been true to the conceptual outlook of the book. In short, this is some of the best sci-fi I’ve read because it manages to connect an interesting what-if scenario to a truly imaginative treatment of alien life and meaningful psychological and philosophical meditations.
