I read this book aloud to my husband. Both of us are cat lovers, so we enjoyed the antics and personalities of Rupert and Isabella immensely...their personalities are much like our own two cats.

After reading the other reviews and seeing how so many of the readers have missed what was right under their noses...the identity of the main character...which was revealed on the last page when Monty suggested the headline in the Chronicle...Rebecca M Hale! Rebecca artfully put HERSELF into the story! It wasn't revealed until the last paragraph of the book because her identity was not pertinent to the mystery.

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the history lesson surrounding the birth of San Francisco and the Gold Rush. It made me want to hop in my car and take a drive to the Bay Area and through the streets of Jackson Square and every location mentioned in the book. My husband and I are both eagerly anticipating reading the next book in the series.
