Winter is the final book of The Lunar Chronicles Series, and objectively speaking, it holds the perfect finale this series deserved.
But honestly, it's always bittersweet to read the final book of the series you have grown to love, and Winter was no exception. I was curious & excited to see how this mega-adventure wraps up, and yet I was also kinda sad to see it all end.
Though I have to say the author did a fantastic job of meshing all the story lines together, tying the loose ends & giving this epic saga the conclusion it deserved.
My only grouse with this particular book was that this one (unlike the others) did not focus as much on the titular character. Which is kinda understandable I guess, because the author had a lot of ground to cover, what with trying to bring down the psycho queen, wrapping up 4 different love stories, fixing the train wreck that was Luna, mending Earth-Luna relations. I get it, there was a lot of ground to cover.
And yet, I couldn't help but wish that there was more to Winter's story than her repeated hallucinations. Plus I wanted more of the Winter & Jacin track. Because honestly it felt like their story was kinda neglected.
In-fact had I not read a short story in the novella (The Princess & The Guard) and the bridge book Fairest, I don't think I would have even been invested in this duo in the first place.
But I guess you can't have it all. Because like I said earlier, in every other way - in all the ways that mattered more - this was the perfect finale to an epic series.
