it was amazing

Finley is an eleven year old girl who is dealing with some tough stuff. Not only are her parents dropping her off with her grandparents for the summer, but she has never met them. Why? She wants to know why they don't have photos of her or their son, her dad around the house. And who are all these cousins, aunts and uncles?
Add to all that she has terrible blue days. The sadness overwhelms her although she doesn't think she has anything to be sad about. It has always been there. Even before her parents decided to get a divorce.
This summer Finley finds out the truth about her family, her father's family and herself.
It is a wonderful book, although there are quite a few triggers for some young people. Like divorce, illness of a grandparent, death of a child before the story, alcoholism, ostracism from a parent, depression and anxiety. In other words its the kind of book teachers always assign students in middle school. You know, like 'Old Yeller,' 'Where the Red Fern Grows,' etc. Good book, but so sad.
