really liked it
bookshelves: classic-french-literature

Quite effective...and disturbing. It was painful (but also fascinating) to watch this disgusting woman slowly destroy her life and those of the men who were infatuated with her. There is not a single redeeming character in the novel, but it was still an engrossing study of sexual debauchery in 19th-century Paris.
