really liked it
bookshelves: 2011, fiction, sci-fi

A book I've been meaning to read for ages, since first watching Bladerunner many years ago. I was worried that having enjoyed the film that this would detract from my enjoyment of the book, but I didn't find it a problem, I think because the two are quite different. The book still retains the major themes of replicants, the level of their self-awareness and potential humanity and the main character is still in the business of "retiring" replicants. The book however has much more detail on the future world and life for its inhabitants and there is more emphasis on the questions in Deckard's mind over replicants and his own status.
