really liked it

Alex Kava tells two tales here, brilliantly going back and forth from one area to another, one plot to another.
In Nebraska, Maggie O'Dell becomes involved in a mysterious crime scene; teenagers, tripping on salvia, end up dead and burned by an unknown assailant in the middle of a state forest.
On the east coast, Maggie's friend and maybe lover, Army Colonel Benjamen Platt heads up an investigation when scores of schoolchildren become seriously ill after eating in the school cafeteria.
Kava does an excellent job on these parallel plots, and also with catching us up with her characters in this engaging series.
