really liked it

A Welsh country farmhouse, a rusty tractor, husband and wife tension and sibling rivalry. Sounds like a typical family, right? Well all it needs to pull a family together is an invasion on the senses and on your life from an outer-world attack.

Karl Drinkwater grabs your attention from the start and never lets go…just like those that invade, trash, chase and threaten a family and their small community. The more frenzied the terror the faster you read. This is a non-stop session with not time for a coffee break.

I like books that strip away the padding and dross. Like one well-known film director who continues to make 60 second commercials says…”It’s a greater challenge to tell a story in sixty seconds than sixty minutes!”

The writing is tight, well structured, descriptive, and the characters ‘human’, but, I got the feeling I’d been there before. The War of the Worlds hovered though leaving enough air for Drinkwater’s own breath of scary imagination.
