really liked it

It took me some time to work my way into the fabric of Depression-era circus life, but I'm glad I made the effort. For some reason this book began a bit flat for me, but after a month or two of following Jacob's circus escapades, it turned into quite a page-turner. I did enjoy the perspective of elderly Jacob and the author moved between the time periods comfortably. The ending was sweet too. A nice change since so many endings seem to let me down these days.
