I gave this book 3 stars because while there were things I didn't like about it, there were things that I did. On the down side, I felt the author was constantly presenting something that happened and then quickly diverting from it with major, long digressions. This happened so frequently it became irritating. I also thought the way he presented the people and scenes of Ethiopia was generally forced and not natural. This said, his writing was often quite excellent. I'm also finding the story has stayed with me. The medical detail was very interesting to me.
