This novel has many stories and conflicts between chiniese immigrants. There are differnt sections in the book one isabout the mother another section is about the daughters of the mother. its pretty much about how the mothers help or guide their daughter to a right life style. There are lots of tension going on between some of the mothers and daughter like Jing mei she si sacred she cant step up to her motheris life and is always frustrating. Jing mei is the main character, she is smack in the middle of both generations which can be really hard from her. I feel thankful that i am not liek her, and that i am free to pick any culture i want.
