A novel felt by many pundits to be a thinly veiled non-fiction account of the Bill Clinton campaign for the White House in 1992. Visualizing Bill & Hillary while reading of Governor & Mrs. Jack Stanton, I was also hoping that most of the sordid details were not based on Clinton facts. Although most of the book featured nasty politics — though nothing like the actual degree of Republican visciousness — some real people emerge in the final few pages, and I actually had trouble focusing through my tears on some pages. I learned of this book through Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac.
