As your browse the bookstore what makes you choose the books you do? You are intrigued by the cover art, amused by the catchy title, interested by the blurb on the back, or you enjoy the author's other work and you cross the minimal threshold of interest that seperates all the books left on the shelf and the one you're taking home in your sweaty little hand. Sometimes that interest fizzles and the book becomes shelf clutter until you turn it into a used bookstore spine uncracked. Sometimes you open it and the tiny superfical interests pay off into a great story that is entertaining and thought provoking. Sometimes, like with "Wicked Intentions", the characters are so poorly realized that you don't care about the heroine's super-secret-secret that she can't share with the dude she's falling in love with because it's so shameful. And you don't care about the hero's so-called sexual perversion because no one else in the book seems that shocked by it. Ultimately, it is a silly book and not in a good or sexy way.
