Before reading this, I was in a bit of a slump. Okay, it was only a week, but I had read The Memory Palace (really excited to read it and then it was a bit colder than I wanted), about a third of a manuscript (if I could read you the sex scenes in this thing, I would, and you would laugh), and one story in St Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves (nothing against the book, really, but it just wasn't for me) and none of it satisfied me. But this novel, and the anger and confusion and raw teenager-ness of the narrator, really clicked for me.

Also: a perfect example of a book with a teen protagonist that is still completely and totally an adult book.
