really liked it

Charming, funny, capacious. The Hummingbird's Daughter is based on the true story of a great-aunt of Luis Alberto Urrea. Teresita was a saint and a rabble-rouser in late 19th Century Mexico, and Urrea brings her legend to life through extensive research and a vivid imagination. There's a little bit of history, a little bit of religion, a lot of great characters, and a lot of plot. A delight to read.
