powerful. gripping. mesmerizing. "homegoing" had me asking so many questions about myself, about our society, about humans in general, questions that are difficult and soul-searching but oh so necessary. yaa gyasi spun a beautiful tale that spanned generations but still weaved similar themes throughout. my one complaint is that the book was difficult to follow with all of the characters and connections they had to one other. the family tree at the beginning was only semi-helpful, because it didn't include the multitude of secondary characters that were also important to each story. overall though, I feel deeply honoured to have read this book, like I was allowed and invited in to experience these beautiful, sorrowful stories.
