it was amazing

This story is like Die Hard, in space (with dragons!), and with a protagonist (Flit) who feels like a young Ripley - or maybe a grown-up Newt (from Aliens). Tobler has crafted an action packed tale that is always in motion: Flit fights mercs, climbs the ice of Ceres, runs, scrambles for supplies in "the Icebox", and wields her two axes with skill and purpose. There is not a dull moment, and to top it off, the characters just pop off the page: Flit, her friend Danse who is trapped in another part of Ceres, and also Bear (you'll have to read it to find out who that is...) and Beauty.

Flit is not one for reminiscing or second-guessing herself. She acts. She fights. She kills when she has to. She eats, and generally does what she needs to survive. There are moments of introspection, mainly in the flashbacks, that illuminate Flit's backstory and her relationship with Danse and Ceres, but these moments never slow down the action.

An excellent, entertaining read.
