really liked it
bookshelves: fiction

I used to work at Service Merchandise in the electronics department while in college and Field of Dreams was on repeat mode ALL the time. I never got bored of that move; each time I saw the ending I welled up with tears. I hoped and expected the book would do the same.
Although the book developed the characters in more detail and wove in some other supporting characters, I felt the essence of the story was actually captured better in the movie than in the book.
Maybe it was due to the number of times I saw the movie or that the movie adaptation was able to boil it down to the perfect baseball story. I'm not sure. Bottom line for me is that that Kinsella wrote a great story and it's a very good read even though it doesn't quite "go the distance."

Len I bet I had a different reaction because I read the book before I saw the film. That being said, Field of Dreams is my favorite movie of all time
