it was amazing
bookshelves: adventure, counter-culture, journalism, non-fiction, travel, uk

"Hats off" or in modern parlance "Big respect" to the author for this epic journey. His idea was to cycle, on a not -too-modern, bike all around the UK, he covers all the mainland and gets out to all the islands which form the UK. He's trying to emulate William Cobbett and have an idea state of the nation, especially in the post-brexit world. I enjoyed his travails and meeting some of the people he comes across, but for me it works best in smaller communities, like the highlands of Scotland. I think it is quite hard to pop into Manchester, buy a bag of chips, or a pint and find out what is happening there. Certainly a reminder of many endearing aspects to my homeland.
