I couldn't help but draw a comparison to Silence of the Lambs when I began this one, after all, the guy collects butterflies, moths, he has a girl in the basement. But the comparisons stop there. If you are tempted to dive into this one with expectations based on Thomas Harris work you will be thoroughly disappointed.

The book started off well enough, and though not the bloody thriller I expected, it was still quite suspenseful. That is until the narration flipped from Frederick, the collector/kidnapper, to Miranda, the victim. The book became boring for me at that point, especially when she spent most of her time reflecting on her ex boyfriend.

The book had a pretty strong ending but couldn't save it from a so-so rating. The book wasn't bad but it certainly wsn't great.
