Shocking ending! I didn't expect the final revelations about the who's and why's of the murder which is a very good thing in a murder mystery. Afterall, you don't want to be able to guess the ending too far ahead.

I had already read a few of George's later Inspector Lynley novels so I was familiar with the characters but I wanted to go back to the beginning to get the full history. I must say I wasn't disappointed, in fact, I was even surprised in some respects about how Havers and Lynley began together. I plan to continue "catching up" on all I missed in the earlier novels by reading the whole series in order.

If you have read any of the "Bones" series by Kathy Reichs, I would definately recommend you read George's series of novels as well. Conversly, if you already like George, try reading Kathy Reichs!
