3.5 stars. I liked this story about closeted Dan and Stevie, the abused rent boy he rescues after a night of sadistic cruelty. Dan is extremely protective of Stevie after he rescues him, but he still cannot give himself permission to give to his attraction. He is is not out to anyone and he has lived his life to this point pretending to be straight. Stevie has suffered at the hands of his pimp and he is afraid that if he is found he'll be in danger. The rest of the book covers the ups and downs of Dan's inability to act on his attraction to Stevie because of his fear of having to leave the closet. Stevie is definitely a very out and proud gay man and he begins to feel that Dan is either unable to overcome his revulsion over Stevie's past or he is embarrassed by Stevie. However, the danger from Stevie's pimp is not over either and there are some very harrowing moments still to come before Dan and Stevie can even think about being together.

This is the 7th book I've read by Ally Blue and I really like the storytelling.
