bookshelves: novels, fascinating-trash

Shocking for its time, but from a self-destructive mad-man. Still, he got it by the censors. Some critics call it a turning point work in American literature. I don't know which turn they mean, perhaps the In Cold Blood sort. I disagree. If you like the distant fringe psyche of us all, read, otherwise toss.
