The writing-style of the author was appalling.

Only on p 81, and I’m not really a SF buff, but the writing is making it difficult to read. I agree with the above. See p34. Paragraph (1) starting with Irina. The last sentence is about 85% of the paragraph and contains 12 commas and runs on and on. Amazing, but not in a good way.
