I liked this book. It is the first one in the series by Eriksson. I've been, as another reviewer said, working my way through Scandinavian crime fiction probably because I was impressed by the Stieg Larsson books. I never been a huge fan of crime fiction, because a lot of it is poorly written, but I'm happy to say that from what I have read in Scandinavian crime fiction so far, with the exception of one book, my impression doesn't hold true.

This is well written and suspenseful. I did not know who did what to whom until it was relieved, which I think says something about the quality of the writing. There are two interlaced stories, and for a good half of the book, I was uncertain if they were related or parallel. I won't reveal which it is but suffice it to say that both stories have themes of loneliness, friendship and betrayal.
