it was ok

I wanted to like this. I really did. And in the beginning, I found it more enjoyable than The Forest House. And if the book had stopped when Caillean and Sianna/Gawen's story was done I would have given it 3.5-4 stars. But the repetition of Sianna and Gawen being reborn and tragically separated over and over again got old, really fast. And the rest of the book dragged like crazy. I am going to read Mists of Avalon because the ratings seem to be much better than these 2 "pre-quels" were, and maybe if I had read Mists of Avalon I would have enjoyed these more. But, I really feel like a book in a series should still stand alone and be enjoyable in and of itself, otherwise, what is the incentive to read the other books? These definitely do not stand alone.
