I thought that ‘Thug Guard’ was a cute book. I wouldn’t think this would be something I’d like, but it surprised me. I thought the fashonista PI was a pretty good character, she wasn’t sure of herself, but she had a handle on things. There was a lot of build up between the two leads, but there is still a lot that can be played between those two. The opening of this book felt like it was the start of a second book, and really there were a few holes that didn’t quite get filled in. It is the first in the ‘Cozy Cash’ series, as far as I can tell, but it still feels like something came before it. Now, I’ve read other reviews saying that this felt like a wanna be Plum series, I haven’t read those books, so I don’t really know if that holds true. It has a lot of pop culture/news/fashion refrences and it has witty dialogue that felt natural. I must say that there were areas that were repetitive but over all it is an enjoyable story.
