it was ok
bookshelves: read-more-than-once, fantasy, ya
Read from January 26 to 29, 2012

It's DEFINITELY the weakest of the series, not even the first one, Over Sea and Under Stone, was as bad. I realized that when I was about halfway, there was only one real 'confrontation', which was Jane's - nothing else of any consequence had really happened until then, which made it very slow going indeed. I will venture to say that it was even pretty dull, especially because there was so much detailed and intricate descriptions of Wales (being it that Wales itself was one of the main characters), making it difficult to understand... I had to keep googling all the names to understand what they were talking about.
The Dark is Rising, the second of the series, keeps on being my favorite - it was just so masterfully written in comparison to the other books (except maybe The Grey King, which is my second favorite) which pale in comparison.

So far, this last book of the series seems to be the slowest one to get through. I won't stop though and shall continue..."
