audiobook-Experimental anti-gravity machine accidentally sends Kate, who's visiting her dad's lab in Darbyshire, and Peter, who she's showing around, back to 1763. The machine is promptly stolen, but Gideon, a reformed cutpurse, witnesses the children's arrival and takes them under his wing. Cliff-hanger ending leaves the reader breathless for the next in the trilogy. Good reader, tho some of the voices got somewhat mixed at the end. Interesting theme of what children need in a parent, and keeping promises permeates the story.
