The The Cold Moon , seventh in the Lincoln Rhyme series is a good solid mystery/procedural. I love the Rhyme character and the criminal forensic focus of the series. This book was a good entry in the series but not my favorite. The story is split between two cases a police corruption case Rhyme's partner (in more than one sense of the word) is working on and a serial killer case that Rhyme is focused on.

The plot of any Rhyme novel takes twists and turns, but rarely are they as extreme and double headed as in this example. Somwhere in the latter third of the book I felt exhausted by the multiple twists, almost like Deaver was trying a bit too hard to fill out the book's pages. The ending was not really satisfying for me but it happens that way for a reason that the reader will pick up on soon enough.

All in all it was a good book for lovers of the series but not overall a great novel.
