really liked it

One of my favorite movies as a kid was Splash, so my interest in mermaids has always been around. I was a bit skeptical of a YA mermaid series but I am so glad that I ditched that thought pretty quickly. The author writes places and people very well, and at times I felt I could see the movie of both of Marina's stories playing in my head. Her characters are real and appropriate for their ages in the story, and she writes the struggles that they experience in high school in a way that isn't typical whiny teenager. I sped through this book and then went on to the second in the series right away.
