it was amazing
bookshelves: books-i-own

This book has to be read by everybody, it is that important. The more hype I heard over this book, the less inclined I was to pick it up, and thank goodness I did!

Angie Thomas perfectly wrote about the dynamics of black and white people, and how race becomes what we are no matter how hard we try to deny that. Stereotypes are everywhere, prejudice is everywhere. And these events inside the book are happening a lot all over the world.

I love the importance of family that was heavily involved, and not just blood-family, but those who we see as family (e.g. friends, neighbours). How everybody stood up for each other in Starr's neighbourhood, and also how her relationship with Chris evolved throughout the story.

I can't give this book any more credit, it deserves it all and will stay with me for a long, long time.
