Absolutely fantastic! This book convinced me to read everything Gruen has ever written...includely the horse books that look kind of borderline lame and Pony-Club-esque.

I think she's just really good with animals...and people, for that matter. The relationship between John and Abby is so real that I actually got attached to Abby and spent time (actual time out of my day...yeah) worrying about their marriage. Obviously, I could barely put it down.

Real characters that are easy to connect with, a story that keeps you turning the pages...all in all, a fantastic read. I wouldn't be surprised if this one goes the same way as Water for Elephants and becomes a smash cult hit and movie.
