it was amazing
Read from August 11 to September 05, 2011

He does an excellent job of sending up his own generation in a very concise and biting way. The interview that Richard (the middle-aged punk rocker) conducts with the privileged Manhattan teenager is worth the price of admission alaone--he basically skewers the current state of the music industry in a very accurate manner. White guilt, hipsterism, elitist environmentalism, Zionism, corporate funding of charitable organizations, the American family: Franzen offer his thoughts on these issues through these well constructed characters. Not exactly a happy tale, but a somewhat hopeful message in the end.
