Excellent book in the Nordic Mystery/Crime genre. The book is part of the Harry Hole detective series. It is early November in Oslo, Norway and the first snow of the year has just taken place. That's when detective Harry Hole receives a call that a woman has disappeared from her home while her husband was at work and her son slept down the hall. Harry is your average missing person detective in that he is a recovering alcoholic, overly committed to his work, and cannot settle down with the woman he loves. As Harry delves into the case, other woman begin to disappear that share common traits with the first victim and a series of other unsolved missing persons cases. In each case, a snowman is left in the yard as a calling card for the killer. Who is the snowman? And can Harry stop him before the love of his life becomes the next victim?
