A Separation

Three and a half stars. This book wasn't what I expected from reading the dust jacket, it's not an intense thriller. There is a mystery gradually unfolding, which we learn about from the first person narration of a wife who reluctantly agrees to travel to search for her soon to be estranged husband. The writing flows beautifully, although I got hung up occasionally due to the lack of quotation marks for dialogue. It's not a fast paced story, with much of the focus on the narrator's feelings and observations, but it's very compelling. I highly recommend this novel for fans of literary fiction.
