If only I could give this more than 5 stars...

This entire series was like a season of 24 in book form...if Jack Bauer had been desperately in love with another man, that is. Instead we have Jack Spiers, president of the United States, and Ethan Reichenback, his lead Secret Service agent. What follows is a tale of two people who stay true to each other, a cast of seriously awesome secondary characters (as well as a second and third background love story between those characters), and some truly evil baddies. A U.S-Russian alliance, explosions, gun fights, fist fights, harrowing descriptions of submarines under ocean ice (panic-inducing, even though I wasn't physically in the submarine, just mentally), hot man-on-man action between three (count 'em: THREE couples), twists, turns, and full-on surprises that had me guessing until the very end.

I'm now in a serious case of book hangover.
