did not like it
bookshelves: overdrive

I did not finish this book, even though I really really tried. I found the pacing slow. I got to chapter four and just didn't care about the characters anymore. The book was still within the first twenty four hours of action. Let's get on with it!
I found some of the premise to be silly. A reader has to suspend belief, but some things were just ridiculous. Would the town's telegraph office be situated so far away from town so that the operator was isolated? How did she get the messeages into town? There was never any mention of her riding a horse to deliver messages. And how did the heroine get the job in the first place?
I also felt the heroine was hitting the reader over the head by repeating that she wanted to be respectable too many times.
Maybe the book was just not for me.
