This is a story of a womens struggle to keep her family together. The story is told mostly in flashbacks. The book opens with Rachel watching old family movies and trying to figure out how her family turned upside down.
Rachel and Ned are happily married and have a daughter Kate. When Kate is 13 and returns from summer camp everyone's world starts to change. Kate is different. Ned and Rachel attribute this to her being a teenager, but Kate starts to sprial out of control.
The book is really intense. I couldn't stop reading. But with that said, I did find this book a bit dissapointing. Shapiro left many questions unanswered for the readers.
