** spoiler alert ** It was nice to have the story line continue with Pendergast and Helen but I felt like not enough happened. Ok, stuff did Happen - but not to really advance that story line. I like that Corrie was included since so many of the "regulars" have been killed off. You know how in stories the bad guys always have self inflated egos and underestimate the good guy they have just captured (for the supposed purpose of killing)? Instead of just killing the good guy, the bad guy does face time with him, bragging and giving the hero time to wiggle out of the trap. This happens in this story too, but also the ending is the same when P lets Esterhazy bring Helen to the park. Too many variables (even though with so many people around it is supposed to be "safer") - if P really wanted to get H back safely he had many ways and places to do just that. The Dakota for instance. But then the book wouldn't have ended the way it did - leaving it wide open for another book and P trying to find H.
